VMware is Hiring Security Engineer And Architecture For The Post As Director Apply Now.

The role will report directly to the VMware Chief Information Security Officer and partner with other CISO direct reports to ensure the security and minimize the risk to VMware as a whole. The other CISO direct reports are in the areas of Security Operations; Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), Business Continuity, and Cloud Security. 

As Director, Security Engineering and Architecture, you will be the focal point and lead for information security for our Corporate Security infrastructure environment. The role will lead a team of technical security administrators, engineers, and analysts to ensure new or improving applications are implemented in a secure manner, establish and maintain security architecture standards, provide security subject matter expertise to Business Units and potentially customers, and coordinate with the VMware Product Security Team to ensure the IT Infrastructure Application Developers adhere to strong SDLC processes, are trained in secure coding practices, and ensure that training is implemented within customer facing and internal supporting applications.

Job Description: 
The Director, Security Engineering and Architecture will report to the Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer of VMware.

Responsibilities: 
 -Lead the Corporate Security Architecture Team in enhancing and maintaining security architecture standards within the Corporate VMware environment.

 -Lead and drive a Tools and Integrations Team on maintaining and troubleshooting issues with installed Security Monitoring Equipment.

 -Drive research and testing of new security controls and products within the Corporate VMware environment from existing third party security vendors as well as internal VMware Product Teams

 -Coordinate with VMware Product Teams and Corporate IT Teams to research, test, and implement VMware products within the Corporate VMware environment, including feedback to Product Teams on improving VMware products in an operational environment.

 -Establish and maintain a group of Security Consultants who work with various VMware Business Units on security subjects to ensure implementation of products or controls within the VMware environment.

 -Coordinate with Product Security and IT Application Teams to ensure Infrastructure applications, including customer facing support portals, such as my.vmware.com, are maintained in a secure manner and solid coding practices are used in the development of internal applications and portals.

 - Sets appropriate success metrics and consistently drives execution

 -Collaborates with other teams to solve security problems with minimal disruption to other business functions.

 -Manages the investigation and troubleshooting of security control issues (such as device failures, updating failures, etc) to determine root cause and drive solutions.

 -Continuous improvement of policies, procedures and technology

 -Hires, train and assess performance of direct reports according to corporate policies and procedures.

 -Assists in the growth of employees through coaching, training and career development activities.

 -Manages a mixed-specialty team that includes network and system engineers, as well as "traditional" security engineers.

 -Interacts with industry experts, partners, internal staff and auditors

 -Works effectively as part of a geographically distributed team

 -Occasional travel is required (domestic and international)

Required Skills: 

 - 7+ years of experience in Information Security, Infrastructure and Security Engineering/Architecture

 -Capable of leading and motivating a team of security staff in a challenging, dynamic and global environment.

 -Strong distributed systems and architecture knowledge.

 -Experience in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment with strict change control

 -Previously managed a minimum of 5 direct reports.

 -Minimum 3-5 years related people management experience.

 -Bachelor's in Computer Science or related industry (or equivalent experience)

 -Infrastructure Security knowledge and experience

 -Security certifications and/or equivalent work experience

Desired Skills: 
 - Strong information security domain knowledge

 - Masters in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Security

 -Prior understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies

 -Experience with multi-tiered mission-critical systems

 -Solid hands-on technical background particularly in managing highly complex, multi-platform environments (servers, storage, networks, security, virtualization, systems monitoring and management)

 -ISO 27001, PCI, SOC, FISMA, FedRAMP knowledge.
